The Unhoused

This project was a 6 week-long project for a UX Research class. My research domain was 'Outdoor living' which I narrowed down to living on streets and homelessness.

What comes your mind when you hear of the term 'Homeless'?

Before we dive into my research, take some time to select the tags for your own reference.

Research and validation

I contacted various pet parents and verbally and visually represented my concept to solve a problem only they could relate with. I had their views, opinions, pain points and suggestions listed down.

I have used 3 real life personas also my super users, who are completely different from each other, apart from the fact that they are parents to some lovely furr babies ! The different environments, schedules and priorities gives me a way into a solution that is worthwhile !

She has alot of house responsibilities and also helps her husband in his business and he runs a college alone. She is also the face of his college and has a daughter and a dog. Pretty organised as a person, she likes to create files and folders for everything.

When the pet falls ill

Finding her pets health receipts

Don't like to go to vets every now and then/ tries to resolve the problem herself

Feeds a basic diet to the dog

He runs an actual non profitable organization for cats known as 'Catrina foundation'. He fosters and rescues atleast 2 cats almost everyday until they find their furever homes. He has taken a responsibility of spaying and neutering the cats for the greater good.

Ishita has a dog and has her mom split half of the responsibilities for the dog with her. Her mom usually takes care of all the dogs needs but she is expected to keep track of his medical needs/ receipts and certificates. Emotionally attached to dogs she googles tasty treats to feed her dog. She has her dogs own Instagram profile page !

Its confusing to find the right vet in the start

No time to take to vet / also lazy

Initially the inspiration came from personal experiences with pets. I have had 8 pets in my lifetime and i realised its not just me who finds it difficult to keep tracks of their certificates and health reciepts. As pet owners we tend to Google and eyeball alot of theories based on opinions on quora or whatever google says. But 90 % of new pet owners need help !

After having gabru i realised i was allergic to cats ! Had to do alot of back and forth to vet ! And i kept loosing both our health reciepts during his prime vaccination stage.

Poor guy is going through tick season. So my mother took 5 days in total to find a receipt from a year ago to figure out if his tick injection is due or not !
